La Festa Primavera 2021

Report

【Day2】17 Apr 2021

Unbeaten by Rain. Unbeaten by Wind

The rain was already pouring down on the morning of day two. The cold wet air indicated that today was going to be a long day. The cars were making an engine sound early in the morning. They set off from the hotel at 8am and headed to their first destination, J-Place Isobe.

After competing PC competitions at J-Place Isobe, the cars headed to Ise Jingu. They received a stamp at Naiku and made their way to Oharaimachi, receiving another stamp at Okage Yokocho. In front of the Akafuku main store, local people saw the entrants off and they left Ise City.

The rain was getting harder so the entrants had to continue driving in the sever conditions. After receiving a stamp at Michi-no-Eki Kiinagashima Manbow in Kihoku Town, they traveled to Kumano City. They competed PC competitions at Yamasaki Sports Park in the heavy rain, then headed to Resort Kumano Club for lunch.

The entrants got wet in the rain, chilled to the bone and came all the way here without a break. When they warmed up their body and rested for a while, they looked relieved.

Even in the afternoon, it didn't look like the rain was going to let up. The cars and the entrants restarted the rally in the cold rain. They received a stamp at the final point in Mie Prefecture, Michi-no-Eki Kumano-Itaya Kurobeenosato, then traveled to a World Heritage Site, Kumano Hongu Taisha in Wakayama Prefecture. They were going to receive a stamp in front of its large torii gate, but due to the rain, the stamp point was changed to in front of the Kumano Hongu Tourist Association Office in a hurry.

The cars left the Kumano Hongu Tourist Association Office and headed to the Nankishirahama Airport Site for today's last PC competition. In the 11 consecutive PC competitions held in the vast site, whether or not the entrants could keep their concentration until the end was the key to achieve good results. In consecutive PC competitions, the finish line of one section is the start of the next section, so a small difference can affect the results a lot.

By the time the competitions started, the rain was letting up and the entrants were taking on the PC competitions with concentration. They received a stamp before leaving the airport site, then headed to the finish line of day two, Hotel & Resorts WAKAYAMA MINABE.

It was raining steadily during much of day two, but when we drove on the winding road among mountains, the mystical scenery spread out before us. It was a little misty over the mountains and the green of the trees looked greener and deeper in the rain. The natural beauty on a rainy day was different from that on a sunny day and I was completely captivated by the view.

On day three, the entrants will drive approximately 360km, from Minabe Town, Wakayama Prefecture to Nara Prefecture and to Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture. I'm concerned about the condition of the cars. Will they be able to complete the whole distance?
